One afternoon at Cheers, Cliff Clavin was explaining the Buffalo Theory to his buddy Norm.

Here's how it went:

"Well ya see, Norm, it's like this... A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers."

I'll drink to that!!! :mug:

Here's an interesting piece that I read today:

I'm going to show this one to the SWMBO, see if I can get her to buy off on it.

How's about a resurface of this thought? Maybe we could pool in some more thoughts.:cross:

The average person used only 10% of their brain. That means there is a 90% target zone.

. . . In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Now, as we know, excessive intake of alcohol kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine.

Thanks Cliff. Cheers. :rockin:

I guess that would make sense if your brain cells themselves were engaged in selective reproduction via coitus, et al, and "random" mutations were part of the reproduction process.

It's fun to be the wet blanket.

Don't upgrade to stick in the mudd.

Interesting, I feel I can make the same but with swear words, for example; Fuc*ing bitc* as* cun* .......thats only 4 though. I need to work on that before I head to Wrigley Field bleachers this year

Well its not like i said it was my own! haha, "thanks cliff, Cheers"

Out of millions of posts how on earth could it have been posted twice! ;)

Thanks for the check though

No problem. Wouldn't expect folks to remember a post from almost a year ago...I just remembered seeing it, and thought it was weird how both threads went in the same direction...

I wondered why my Reflexes and balance and the ability to rapidly recover after getting punched in the face have got so much better since I started drinking.

This is too long to use as my signature, but I thought you all may enjoy

A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. Therefore, when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This "Natural selection" is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and overall health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.

In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. It is a well known Scientific fact that excessive intake of alcohol kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient thinking machine.

And that, Norm, is why you always feel smarter after a few beers.
