To the pros....

Would this work:

Sparge tank draining to the top of a Gott/Rubbermaid cooler mashtun (round) that has a bung insterted into the cente of the drilled lid. There is a tube through the bung that funnels the sparge water into the mashtun.

UNDER the Gott/Rubbermaid round cooler lid, centered, is a pie plate attached securely with numerous holes punched through it (like a shower head).

Would this setup work as an effective sparge distribution mechanism before I go drilling a hole in my Cooler lid?
 
Well, yeah, by definition I suppose. But when fly sparging you would want the water going in to match the water coming out. Wouldn't it be kind of annoying to adjust your water going in by how much is overflowing?
