I have 2 lager beers in the secondary right now and theyve been going for a month or so. I have them set up on a blow off tube into a cup of water that was sanitized with iodophor. Is this safe to do? Should I but a stopper in there or an airlock?

It is not necessary, but they work just like an air lock.
The only disadvantage to them is if barometric pressure rises while they are not really producing CO2 (very slow fermentation), then the water from the cup (or whatever you use) could get sucked into the fermenter. Using a normal airlock, this will not happen (unless you over fill it).
