How much DME and water would you use for a starter for a lager with an OG of 1.050? I have tried Mr. Malty but haven't really gleaned anything from that site.
I would do a two quart starter with 6 ounces of DME and two vials of yeast. Then pour off the liquid and add the remaining yeast to another one gallon starter with 12 ounces of DME. Then pour off the liquid and pitch the yeast.
