So I purchased this screw-in camco heating element:

http://www.camco.net/Menu.cfm?SupCategoryId=10200&SubCategoryId=233&ProductId=2344

The problem is that I can't get it to fit though my 1" coupling because of all the bends in the element. I was wondering if anyone else ran into this problem and how they got around it. I was thinking about just cutting my coupling in half because it is 1.75" long and maybe that would give me a little more room to work with.

That element should still fit a 1"NPT if it's a standard build. You can just slice off a few threads worth of coupling for a locknut.

Sweet, I was planing on making a 1/2" slice and seeing if I could snake it through that.
