What's a good variety for brewing in the summer when the basement is above 70?

Belgians are a good place to start. I don't have precise temperature control, but I do have stable temps between my basement and my hallway closet. My basement was a little cool for the Golden Strong I brewed during the Spring. But my closet was around 72-74 and was great for the yeast I used and the ester character appropriate for that beer.

If you like saisons then use some 3711. Very forgiving on temp and always works. Some Belgian yeasts like it warm but you need to control the temp for the first few days. Those yeast work best if you pitch low (60's) and them slowly lwt the temp rise. Some o are more temp tolerant than others if the temp get too hot too fast. 1762 is a good example. Get it too hot too govast and ot throws fusels....
