Hops - vine growing through the flower?

hey, so this is my 2nd year growing hops - glacier and horizon, last yr they got downy mildew so i had to waste them and now this year they look great and are almost mature. except the one has vines growing through all of the actual flowers? like the cone is there but leaves are sprouting out of the cone? can i still use these?
 
From your description it sounds like they are what's called 'cock' hops or 'angel wings'. If they bother you just pull them off but otherwise the hops are fine.

Word of caution. Do NOT google "cock hops" with the safe search off!:eek:
