Last year I made around 70 gal of blackberry wine and this year will do about the same. It took me forever to rack, backsweeten etc so I bought a wine pump. I plan to pump it all into two 30 gal trash cans, clean out the carboys and re rack back into the carboys. My questions is do I have to worry about headspace as it will be exposed for just a short time or do I buy a bottle of CO2??

Thanks for any help guys..

the headspace is not really an issue compared to the actual action of racking it, in my opinion. wines can tolerate some oxidation (some benefit from it), so I don't think I'd worry too much if I were you. One idea is, if you can find can liners for the trash cans (that could be reasonably sanitized, you could "inflate" them with your blackberry wine as they fill. Just an idea.
