Hello All,

My first daughter was born 1 week ago today. I am looking to brew something to commemorate the occasion. I am looking to brew what I am calling Ramona's Black Rye PA. This is my first attempt at going out on my own on a recipe, so I wanted to make sure everything looked OK in the eyes of more experienced brewers. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Here's the recipe I have as of now:

9.5 lbs Pale Malt (2 Row) US
1.5 lb Rye Malt
1 lbs Caramel/Crystal Malt - 10L
12.0 oz Carafa III
10 oz Special Roast

Mash at 154.0 F

60 min 1.00 oz Warrior [15.80 %]
15 min 1.00 oz Cascade [5.00 %]
15 min Whirlfloc Tab
5 min 1.00 oz Citra [12.3%]

final volume of 5.50 gal

Safale US-05 Saved from last batch

1.00 oz Citra [12.3%] (Dry Hop 7 days)
1.00 oz Cascade [5.00 %] (Dry Hop 7 days)

OG Target: 1.064 SG
FG Estimate: 1.017 SG
SRM: 31
IBU: 70

For me, I would back off on the specialty grains a bit and increase the two row. When Using Cara III and Special Roast a little goes a long way. I usually only use a pound or so of specialty grains total and the rest is base grains.

I like the ingredients. It looks a lot like something I would make.
