I'm not sure if this is the appropriate forum, but could anyone tell me what the appropriate method is for harvesting yeast from the yeast bed at the bottom of my fermentor? I want to transfer my beer to a secondary today and would like to try my hand at keeping some yeast alive, if only for practice. Would I have to do yeast washing, or do a yeast bank, or simply make a starter colony out of it and keep it going?
I've never done anything like this before but I think it'd be good practice and if it works, even better. Thanks!
