Hi, I'm starting a wit tomorrow and I have a small problem. The recipe needs 50 gm of coriander seeds, but all I have is coriander powder? Should I use 50 gm of powder? People at my local store told me to reduce the amount. I much should I add to a 5 gallons batch?

Thanks for your help, this forum is amazing!

Yes, 1 ounce is 28 gm. Ok for 1/5 ounce, seems good for a first batch. Thanks for your help.

When talking about spices, whole is always better than pre-ground. If you can only get your hands on ground, there is no reason not to use it unless it tastes bad. Also, if you have pre ground spices that are over 3 months old, they have lost a lot of potency.
