So I went to my local micro brewery "mission springs pub" and was very disappointed in their pumpkin ale. The brewmaster put anise spice in the beer which gives off a liquorice taste. It completely overpowered the beer, making it very hard to drink. Does anyone else use this in their pumpkin ale?

Not at all. Seems very out of place if you ask me. Anise is a VERY powerful spice...and I'm not a huge fan of it unless the style fits. Pumpkin beers shouldn't have it, though.
