Which grain do I substitute for extract in this kit?

If your going to try to swap some of the lme for grains, I would use a Marris Otter or maybe a Belgin Pale ale malt.

The kit already has some specialty grains in it for steeping. Depending on how the lme is packaged and how much grain you want to swap out for lme, will determine your amount of grains to substitute.

It's not quite that simple to just change an Extract kit to a Partial Mash. You're still going to have some LME, just not as much and it's going to increase some of the specialty grains as well as add in the base grain. I've made this kit and it produces a nice beer.
To do a PM of this you'll need:
4 lbs 14.8 oz of Pale LME
13 oz of Crystal 40
10 oz Pale Malt 2 Row
2.2 oz Roasted Barley
2.2 oz Special B

Hmmm...didn't realize it was that in depth. I guess I'll just brew the extract and go for a PM on the next batch.

By the way, those are pretty exact weights. Got a scale recommendation?
