Anyone have any experience with using a E-Kettle and using canned pumpkin in the recipe?

I have a Camco 5500w ULWD element, but im afraid of the pumpkin just sticking to the bottom of the pot and carmelizing/burning as I doubt my bag will keep mashed pumpkin in the mash.

Do you think it is OK to add a few cans of Pumkin to the mash or boil, or would you expect problems from this?

If you are using an ULWD element and just pumpkin in the mash you should be OK if you toss the pumpkin on top of the grainbed. Just be sure to keep the liquid moving around the element before you get to a boil.

FWIW, I don't use any pumpkin in my pumpkin beer but everyone swears otherwise.

I really burned a batch this weekend using 4 lbs of pumpkin in the boil of an E-BIAB. I just tasted a sample, having thought I burned it, and yes, it's true. So, if other E-BIAB'ers are thinking of a pumpkin beer, be careful... :)
