A coworker asked if I have ever made a honeysuckle flavored beer.

Sounded interesting and was thinking of a summer honeysuckle wheat beer.

Has anyone ever tried a honeysuckle flavored beer?

never tried but now all those honeysuckle bushes i have in the back might have to end up in a boil this summer lol

Im thinking a wheat wine with 8 oz of honeysuckle added at flameout. Then maybe a pound in secondary.... Did I mention I have A LOT of honeysuckle lol. I just have to beat the honeybees to it aswell

I believe the berries on most honeysuckle bushes (around here I've got Lonicera X Bella and Lonicera tartarica) are mildly poisonous to humans. Not deadly, *I don't think*, but enough to make you sick to your stomach. There may be a difference in between the invasive and native honeysuckles, but I don't know. Just make sure you get a positive ID and do your research. If it is deadly, please report back! :mug:
