Turns out that the tube fits perfectly inside the tube that fits inside a glass carboy neck.
A few inches of delrin, a couple of o rings and a clamp.
Oh and an hour on the lathe( I am not very good at lathe work)
And I now have a fermenter that can handle 10 gallon batches.

I just use #11 rubber bungs for my sankes, then install a spear with 3/4" cut off the tube to transfer with co2.
 
I Had a piece of delrin and a clamp along with the O rings laying around the shop.
A bung or cap was an hour drive one way.
Plus it got me some much needed practice on the lathe. Next I have to make an adapter to transfer the wort with CO2.
I wonder what the thread pitch is for a ball lock fitting.
