Hey, I'm brewing a recipe this Saturday that should hopefully be ready late this May for the ole' graduation. I brewed the Double IPA Graduation Ale several weeks ago to go with this. I figure those of us who will be graduating and living in a cardboard box, like me, will get the Double IPA as opposed to this American Wheat... we'll need it...
But, I digress... here's the recipe. It's based on a Harpoon UFO clone from the American Clone Brew book.
OG: 1.052
FG: 1.012
15-20 IBU
MASHED:
2 lb Lager Malt
2 lb Malted Wheat
.5 lb Carapils
EXTRACT:
3 lb DWE
HOPS:
1.3 Hallertau 60 min
0.66 Hallertau 0 min
1 ounce Lemon Zest, last 10 minutes.
I'm not really sure what yeast to use. I really don't feel like reculturing some UFO yeast right now so maybe a German Weizen/Hefenweizen yest from Whitelabs? Any suggestions? Thanks for any critisism. I'm somewhat nervous brewing a recipe I'm never done befoe for my graduation ale, but hey... it's time to take some risks.
