I got impatient and pitched the smack pack at about 85°. I don't know what I was thinking.

Yep, you're good. You gotta be in triple digits to kill yeast. I wouldn't pitch to a batch of wort at 85, but your starter will be fine.
Cool it slowly so you don't shock the yeast.
