What do you guys think of this recipe?

2 Row 11lbs
Caramel 40 1 lb

mash at 152 for 60 min

US Simcoe 13.0 % 1.00 oz 60 Min From End
US Amarillo 9.3 % 0.25 oz 30 Min From End
US Citra 13.9 % 0.25 oz 30 Min From End
US Amarillo 9.3 % 0.25 oz 15 Min From End
US Citra 13.9 % 0.25 oz 15 Min From End
US Amarillo 9.3 % 0.25 oz 10 Min From End
US Citra 13.9 % 0.25 oz 10 Min From End
US Amarillo 9.3 % 0.25 oz 5 Min From End
US Citra 13.9 % 0.25 oz Min From End
US Amarillo 9.3 % 0.25 oz At turn off
US Citra 13.9 % 0.25 oz At turn off

Dry hopping with .75oz Citra

Wyeast 1450 Dennys Fave 50

OG 1.063 6.4% ABV
IBU 78

I would, at minimum, double all additions from 15- flameout, move the 30 min additions to 20 or less, and dry hop with 2.5 oz or more.

Looks tasty. I might dry hop with a bit more than your .75 oz for added aroma, but no question it'll have plenty of hops character either way.

Thanks. Maybe I'll go with 1.5 oz dry hop.
Or possibly 1oz citra & .5 oz Amarillo dry hop

Yep. .25 ounce additions are way too small for an IPA if you want lots of hops flavor and aroma. 30 minute additions are a waste. Simcoe has great flavor, also. I'd probably use that ounce of hops in the flavor/aroma, and bitter with something neutral

I'd do this:

Bittering hops 1 oz, 60 minutes (magnum, galena, warrior, etc) to 40 IBUs

Simcoe .5 oz 15 minutes
Amarillo 1 oz 15 minutes
Citra 1 oz 10 minutes
Simcoe .5 oz 5 minutes
Amarillo 1 oz 5 minutes
Citra 1 oz 0 minutes

Dry hop- 1 oz citra, 1 oz amarillo.

Ok I'll try this. I added in beer alchemy though and this comes out to 109 IBU. That seems a little high. I was shooting for around 70-80. Should I scale back the warrior to .50 oz? That would bring me to 81ibu

My warrior is 16.7AA, citra 13.9AA, Amarillo 9.3AA, simcoe 13

Yes, For the 60 minute hops, get 40 IBUs with just that addition, whatever amount that is. Then add the rest of the hops.

oops, sorry. i missed that 40 ibu comment earlier.

Ok, heres where I'm at now. Any concerns?

US Warrior 16.7 % 0.75 oz 60 Min From End
US Amarillo 9.3 % 0.75 oz 15 Min From End
US Simcoe 13.0 % 0.50 oz 15 Min From End
US Citra 13.9 % 1.00 oz 10 Min From End
US Amarillo 9.3 % 0.75 oz 5 Min From End
US Simcoe 13.0 % 0.25 oz 5 Min From End
US Citra 13.9 % 1.00 oz At turn off
US Citra 13.9 % 1.00 oz Dry-Hopped
US Amarillo 9.3 % 1.00 oz Dry-Hopped

this brings me to 85 ibu's

thanks for all of your help. I just mashed in. Looking forward to this one

Personally, I think that both amarillo and citra needs something to balance them out as dry hops. I'd add some simcoe there too.

Thanks for the tip. Maybe I'll dry hop with .75 oz of each
