so i'm looking to setup a pickup tube that is similar to this guys
Picasa Web Albums - Kevin - Keggles for c...

but i'm wondering about cleaning. can a compression fitting be taken apart and put back together? i thought it crimped the metal a bit upon first assembly and would eventually be prone to leaking if it was taken apart and reassembled.

any thoughts?

Once the fitting nut is tightened 7 - flats ( 1 - 1/6 rotation) from finger tight the ferrules will stay on the tubing when you take the fitting apart. After initial installation the nut can be tightened just snug with a wrench not the 7 - flats as that is a one time only method. The only caution is be careful not to cross thread the nut during reassembly or over tighten the nut the first time which will swell the tube and make disassembly and reassembly difficult.

coo, just what i wanted to hear

now if i could just find some SS tubing in canada....might have to go with a SS racking cane
