Since I began brewing, I've read about a number of ways that homebrewers use priming sugar. One way that was suggested to us was to add the sugar at the very bottom of the bottling bucket before siphoning the brew in. What way do you recommend?

Dissolve the priming sugar in two cups of boiling water. Let cool while you are sanitizing your equipment. Pour the priming solution into your bottling bucket, then rack the beer into the bucket. I keep the tube at the bottom of the bucket. Then bottle and cap.

For a five gallon batch, 2/3 cup of white table sugar is standard.

I've always wondered, if you add the sugar and stir the beer, the wort will be hazy again..so I still add sugar directly to the bottles.

This is what I do.

To avoid stirring, I add half the priming sugar solution initially and then add the second half after 50% of the beer has been racked. Seems to work out well.

No stirring required. Priming solution in the bottom of the bucket and then rack the beer with the tube all the way at the bottom of the bottling bucket. It mixes fine without stirring.
