I'm brewing a Fresh Hopped Pale Ale tomorrow and wanted to see what you guys thought about the recipe.
It's a simple Extract based recipe (see below) which I've had a lot of success with when brewing pale ales, what I'm less sure about is the hop profile.
Does the amount of fresh cascade hops I'm using look about right at flame out and for dry hopping. Do you think the Amarillo is going to get lost with all of the Cascade or do you think some of it's flavor/aroma is going to come through with the cascade?
The recipe is a partial boil, I'll be topping up with a couple of gallons of water. The hop amounts and the calculated IBU take this into account.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
3.5 Gallon Batch
Fermentables
US Caramel 60L Malt 1.00 lb 16.7 % 15.1 Steeped
Extract - Light Dried Malt Extract 1.00 lb 16.7 % 0.8 Start Of Boil
Extract - Light Dried Malt Extract 2.00 lb 33.3 % 1.5 End Of Boil
Extract - Amber Dried Extract 2.00 lb 33.3 % 5.3 End Of Boil
OG 1.056
FG 1.013
Hops
German Northern Brewer 10.6 % 0.50 oz 60 mins
US Amarillo 9.2 % 0.35 oz 15 mins
Fresh Cascade 1.0 % 7.00 oz Flame out
Fresh Cascade 1.0 % 5.00 oz Dry-Hopped
