Priming with Candy?

I have used the carbonation sugar drops before which got me thinking about using candy to add carbonation and flavor, I was thinking about a cinnamon apple cider with maybe red hots or cinnamon drops of some sort. Anyone tried something like this?
 
No, but I've had Jolly Rancher mead.

If you want cinnamon, tossing a couple sticks in the fermenter is the way to go.
 
Not sure if it was here or elsewhere, but I read about someone making candy cane mead every christmas.
 
I have a bunch of candy from Christmas that we used to make gingerbread houses. Between minty and cinnamon candy, I think I have some interesting "mead" coming.
