Ok according to the directions with my kit I poured 2.5 gal ice cold water into my sanitized fermenter bucket which the wort was added to. I sanitized with star san and left the star san in the bucket until I added the cold water. I dumped the star san out and added the cold water less than a minute later. It looked to me as if when i added the cold fresh water there was a little star san foam or looked like there was some sanitizer residue mixed with the fresh water. I dumped in the wort and finished to hope for the best. My question is was is safe and ok to dump in the wort even though there might have been some residual star san left over in the bucket?

Yes - I KNOW it's hard to believe you can dump your beer in foam, but rest assured, it's perfectly safe. Don't fear the foam!!
