If you carbonate at 30 psi and forget to check on it, while the co2 is still running, can a 2.5 corney keg ever blow up in a refrigerator?

On all pressurized containers, there is a relief valve. The valve will release pressure at its set point which is lower than the container is rated for. If the container is rated for 150 psi. then the relief may be set for 100 psi so the container will never reach the rated pressure. What will happen if the regulator is set too high is it will release CO2 to the atmosphere.
