The AIPA I'll be brewing has an OG of 1.066. I'm using Wyeast 1056 Activator pack, and even the package says it's for wort with a gravity of 1.060 and lower.

Will those 6 measly points make that much of a difference if I just pitch what I have, or do I still have to make a starter?

you'll be fine, but making a starter has never hurt anything. makes sure the yeast is nice and viable. 1056 is a pretty resiliant yeast too.

Another vote for starter. Even if it was 1.060, I'd still go starter. I think the only time I don't pitch a starter is when I am using slurry or the beer is less than 1.050
