Just getting back to brewing after 2 yr absence. decided to make stout
using a variety of receipes. Usually I do extracts and mini-mash. I haven't
worked up to a full mash yet - (for unknown reasons).
8 lbs light dme
1 lb flaked oats
.5 lb flaked barley
.5 lb carmel 120l
.5 lb carmel 60l
4 oz choclate
2 oz roasted
4 oz malto dextrine
1 oz golding 60 min
1 oz fuggles 40 min.
5.75 gal boil.
Did a mini mash with the grains. There really weren't enough grains in retrospect but it seemed too much to just steep at the time.
So I think this is probably an imperial stout looking at the ingredients
now. what bothers me is the OG of 1.082. It's pretty high.
I put it in the fermentator ~ 10 min ago.
Should I try and bring the OG down?
How -- add more boiled & cooled water? How much?
Or I'll probably just relax and wait until this batch is done - or gone.
Thx
