Sooo I recently got off of the beaten path and decided to do a blackberry wine for the in-laws and friends for Christmas. Well I de-gassed the wine with a DYI de-gassing rod made from a plastic coat hanger and after I racked the wine and was cleaning my carboy, I noticed what looks like scratches on the bottom of my jug... are they really scratches? or just marks from the plastic? and will they have any adverse affects on brewing in that jug from here on out?? Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas!!

Primary- Afpelwein (Ed Worts Recipe)
Secondary- Blackberry Merlot
Bottled-Wild Irish Red

More than sanitizing issues, I would be concerned with compromising its structural integrity. Broken carboy = dangerous.
