I added too much sugar during the bottling step. It called for 1 tsp. and I added 1 tbsp.

Should I let them sit longer, shorter, or is it ruined?

Thanks

Store them somewhere safe from beer fallout:( Cant recall the amounts I used to use when adding sugar directly to the bottles, but if a teaspoon has given good results in the past or is what directions called for, then you'll have a VERY carbonated beer at best (bottle bombs at worst). Are they in glass or plastic? If in the PET bottles you might be able to monitor them for firmness then crash cool them when you feel they are carbonated enough. This should temporarily halt the yeast.

Put them in a Rubbermaid container with a good lid in case they start to blow. In about 4-5 days put one in the fridge for 24 hours to see how much they've carbed. Once they are carbed up good get them all in the fridge and drink 'em up!
