My wife is italian, and like any italian, she loves a good glass of vino. Always has a glass of red or white with her meals, unless we BBQed something, in which case she drinks a beer.
Last night, we sat down to a meal of snapper and pasta alfredo. As I went to the kitched to fetch a beer, I asked her if she would like a glass of wine. She said, "No. I think I prefer beer now. I haven't been enjoying wine as much as your homebrew lately."
EH?! An italian turning down wine in favor of a brown ale?
Now, don't get me wrong, she has ALWAYS been a fan of good beer (in fact, she was the barmaid at a microbrew pub when I met her), but I have never seen her choose beer over wine for a meal before.
This, to me, is a great mark of success.
