Working on clarifying a couple of 1 gallon mead batches and just had a thought. Since bentonite works by having a negative change to attract the particles in suspension has anyone ever tried setting up awoke strong magnets to see if that works to clarify a mead? I was thinking of a few hard drive magnets below the carboys.

uh... i think that would work if you have metal floating around your mead, but other than that, i couldn't see it being very effective.

The charged particles are ions, not magnetic particles. Now, static charge may attract them or dispel them, but who knows.

Might try rubbing a balloon in your hair and see if anything moves. ;)
