Hi all. I made my first batch of JAOM last year around this time and just finished bottling up the last of it the other day.
Here is one of the bottles I am bartering to a friend for some other services.

I went overboard and had made a 5 gallon batch and turned up short on the honey. It ended up quite dry and very high in alcohol (around 16%)
For the first little while it tasted like paint thinner!

A year later and I have started another batch (1 gal) of JAOM
and a basic Cherry Melomel. Which I have fermenting in a brown 1 gal jug.

the glass next to it is my 1 year old JAOM.
Recipe:
Water to 1 gal
Lavlin EC-1118
1 lb cherries (frozen from costco)
3 lb honey (from costco)
1 cup orange juice

it will get its first racking in about 3 weeks

I have been enjoying reading the site through the iphone app

Thanks, Adam

Looks good....where did you get the fishy bottle? With the patients to make mead you would probably make good beer too! welcome & Cheers:rockin:

When I first bought all my equipment (used off kijiji) I received 5 23 L carboys, 60 wine bottles, hydrometers, thermometers, airlocks, bungs, bottle washer all for $50 CAD. Amongst the bottles were the fish bottle, a couple of those cat bottles and a very large bottle with a long neck that was at least 1 L.

So I have been very eager to make more things.

Test tasted both batches tonight and they are both coming along great! The cherry Mel actually tastes like a rosé and is already at 10% abv with a reading of 1.020 from an original reading of 1.096 and I am only a week in!
