So last year when I rebuilt my kegs I bought some replacement pressure relief valves. I think from Chi-company, but maybe whichever online place I ordered from that day, so I'm not pointing fingers.

Today I'm cleaning my kegs and pulled these two out. One completely rusted, and one just fine.

So who grabbed the non-stainless piece of metal and put it in the lathe? I don't think a hose down with diluted starsan would do it, nor would a splash of oxy/pbw. So what gives?

Nothing can be done but trashing it, so just check your PRV's when you get them!

That sucks. It is rusted on every single portion. The odd thing is that it is rusted past the sealing o-ring. That tells me that it rusted from water/beer trapped there after the o-ring sealed up. I don't know how that's important but......those things aren't cheap.
