One of my favorite indie gems from the early days of Netflix streaming, Primer, is back again after being unavailable for a couple of years.

Looks interesting, I'll have to check that one out.

Donnie Darko. EXCELLENT flick, best soundtrack too in my estimations. Timeless.

The more I watch Donnie Darko the less I enjoy it and I have no idea why. Great music for sure though.

I'm the same way, so I stopped re-watching it.

Streaming is WHERE IT'S AT!!!!

For those with Roku:

Crackle and Midnight Pulp are both free and good (not nearly as good as NEtflix, but for free, who is counting?)

Someone mention Boobies?

Best Cheerleader Camp (or something like that;)) Just watch the opening credits. The rest of the movie absolutely sucks.

Add the NowhereTV channel for your Roku. It's awesome.

The shock value would wear off with over watching...but to each their own!:mug:

I only watch it once a year or so.

That is good but a little overwhelming. What do you like on there?

It's because it's overrated. It's seriously a bad movie. It's not a bad idea, basically showing what happened because Donnie didn't magically die, but it was done in such a bad and uncreative way. And in the end it's just indie emo BS.

Several local news stations are on here, the NASA stuff, al jazeera, CNBC, PBS, Basic Brewing, are a few. There's copious channels.

We don't have cable, so I use this to watch a lot of channels that you would otherwise get on regular TV.

Completely disagree.

Last night I watched a couple of films.

First was Alter Egos which turned out to be a kinda "meh" somewhat emo superhero-themed film. Not awful, but still not particularly enthralling, either.

Next, I watched Oldboy, a Korean film which I had some recommendations to watch previously but had never gotten around to it. That movie was excellent, disturbing, and somewhat gory in the style of "torture porn" films like Saw in some scenes. I woke up this morning STILL thinking about that film, which is the sign of a good story IMO. Excellent acting, excellent cinematography, and a story that is pretty insane. The only thing I didn't like was that the Netflix streaming version is dubbed into English, whereas I think I would have preferred the original language with English subtitles. Netflix already has the capability of choosing different audio and subtitle streams, so I don't get why they only let you see the dubbed one. Anyway, really good film that I thought about for a long time afterwards.

Yeah, watched El Diablo. Good flick, but dubbing SUCKS.

Who would have guessed that El Diablo would spawn a series with Depp and Banderras?

I just finished "Rescue Me" 7 seasons worth watching if you haven't yet. I just started "breakout kings" its pretty cool so far.

I just finished all seven seasons of Rescue Me as well.

What a great show. I can't believe I never heard of it before.

I came across it after I got into American Horror Story. Season's 1 and 2 were both great as well. Season 1 is available on NetFlix.

Another couple of films yesterday:

First I watched Limitless which is a vaguely SF film with Bradley Cooper where he basically starts taking some drug to make himself smarter. Overall I thought it was decent, although for a supposed smart guy he did some really stupid things IMO.

After that I watched Christopher Nolan's freshman film, Following...which is about an aspiring writer who would randomly follow people that ends up getting caught up in some nefarious activities. He makes rather extensive use of flashbacks/flash forwards in the film without much to give you a sense of order, so that you end up having to work out for yourself in what order things are happening. I suppose one could compare it to Memento in that sense, although I felt Memento was way more structured. Overall a good film, although you can tell it's an early, low-budget work.

Sorry for jumping in so late but has anyone seen the Netflix produced series "House of Cards"? Not sure if I'm digging it. Just boring with superficial drama injected sporadically throughout like the first time you use a syringe to season a Turkey....

The series I really got into was CHOSEN on Crackle and a Crackle Original. The first season was only six episodes but they were pretty intense!!!

If you like political dramas I don't see how you can't love house of cards. I watched all 13 episodes over the course of 4 days. They are making season 2 soon so overall it must be considered a hit.

Chosen (Crackle not NETFLIX) looks good, glad you mentioned it! Can you speak to any of crackle's other original content?

Cheezy- I just stumbled upon Chosen and haven't seen any of Crackle's other original series(s)....

Just finished watching the 1st season of Death Valley. Funny show, I highly recommend it. I guess it was a show on MTV? Never had heard of it before hand...

Watched Donnie Darko this weekend. Not bad. Went in with basically no notions of what it was going to be about. Still not sure what it was about...

I am still not sure. He seemed to possibly choose to go back in time and die since his love was killed, or he got to experience a half dream/half reality bit of existence while he died.

Either way I dig it. That rabbit is so freaking bizarre.

Firefly is definitely good! Not quite BSG, but what is?

Every time I see the pilot though, I can't help but think of Dale.......as in

TUCKER AND DALE VS EVIL!!!!!!!

One of the best movies ever.;)

Firefly is great, although be warned: watching it will only increase hatred of fox for axing good shows in their prime. Also, not sure if it is on Netflix or not, but the movie Serenity is the conclusion to firefly - do not watch it first!

I already have plenty of hatred for Fox for their media outlets, so no problems there. I've actually seen Serenity but I don't really remember what happened, it was years ago.

It's worth watching again.

Any one else watch the second season of The Increasingly Poor decisions of Todd Margaret?

It was pretty great.
