Planning to brew a 5 gal extract kit but rack 3 gals over to secondary onto watermelon juice after 1st week of fermentation. How do I figure out how much priming sugar is needed for the 3 gals as well as the leftover 2? The kit comes with 4 oz I believe, do I split that in half?

Typically a good rule of thumb is 1 oz (by weight) per gallon. But if you just split it in half, your 2 gallons will be a little more carbed and your 3 gallons a little less.

you arent splitting your beer exactly in half, so why would you split the priming sugar exactly in half??

if the ratio you want to use is 4oz of sugar for 5 gallons, then do the math for 2 and 3 gallons... (1.6oz and 2.4oz)
