What size hose for blowoff tube

Have a 6.5 gallon carboy that I want to put a blow off tube on. What size fits perfectly in there? I'm brewing a imperial ipa today.
 
The 6.5 gallon carboy has a larger opening than the 6 gallon. I think a 1.25 OD is fine for a 6 gallon, but don't know what you would use for 6.5 gallon one.
 
I have 6.5 gallon carboys and I use 1" ID x 1.25" OD, nice fit.
I have worried that dust or other things could settle between the tubing and carboy neck opening and when removing the tubing these could fall into beer, so I have started covering this with tin foil just to be safe.
