I've made this recipe on a smaller 3 gallon scale and it was my BEST ever,
but I'm not sure of its classification.

I could ramp it up for a definite Barley Wine or leave it where it is and just call
it a dark Imperial IPA. What do you all think? (I have the yeast starter ready to go today, wife and kids willing.)

43 cal/pint? Something is broken. I'd believe 43/Kcal an ounce.

This a barley wine. It's right at the low end for the style, but you might actually be able to drink a bit this Winter. Kick it any higher & it's next Fall or later.

Thanks for the suggestion - I'll keep the alcohol content a bit lower in order to drink it this winter.

Not sure about the calories/pint yhing - that is just the calculations that BeerSmith gave me. It might need some tweaking.

He hasn't entered the actual OG and FG into the recipe yet which is why Beersmith reports 0.65% actual ABV and 43 cal/pint using the default values in those fields.

Looks like a small Barleywine or a malty IIPA. I think you could call it either way. It should be drinkable in a couple months. Nothing wrong with going a little darker than style, especially with most big beers. It is almost expected to happen to some due to the large amount of ingredients.

Thanks for the reassurance, Craig. I'm a BIG Stone Brewery Fan and I tend to brew on the darker side.

Well, today I brew!!! Than I'll add my OG than FG in about 5-7 days. I'll repost all the info later.
