Root Beer/Cream Soda w/ vanilla beans

I'm curious about making root beer and/or cream soda with actual vanilla beans, because I'm pretty sure it would be freaking amazing. I need to know how much the typical dose of beans would be... and if anyone has a good, simple recipe for a soda that could use vanilla beans, that would be aces.
 
I am going to start brewing soda once I get my kegerator built. From the research I have done it seems like 1 bean per gallons seems about right. But I'll be posting back once I do some experiments myself.
 
been doing A LOT of research on rootbeer lately . . . I plan on using 1 ounce per 2.5 gallons. I dont know how many beans that works out to be so it MAY change
