A couple of weeks ago i tried out an idea, i had built a Sous Vide cooker similar to the ones in the cooking/pairing section in this forum and i thought why not mash grains in it, holds a steady temp as long as you want, produced https://www.homebrewtalk.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=106629&stc=1&d=1362950642
Today i started with about 5lbs of grain in a 2.5 gal ziplock, 7quarts of water and tossed it in and forgot about it for about 5 hours https://www.homebrewtalk.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=106638&stc=1&d=1362952038Drained and sparged to end up with about 3.5 gallons
Boiled as usual, ended up with a 1.073SG https://www.homebrewtalk.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=106633&stc=1&d=1362951183 (new refractmeter:ban:)
It's in the fermenter with some cali ale yeast and starting to show activity.
Has anyone tried this before or have i come up with something new?
The 2.5 gallon batch i did today is probably maxed out for my setup but is getting my feet wet as far as all grain goes, i'm liking it:rockin:
