OK, so here's the recipe i made up with beersmith for my up comming brew. i'm shooting for an oaked american ale, along the lines of oaked arrogant bastard, but i'm not trying to duplicate it, so as far as i can gather, i needed a high original gravity an high IBU's so this is what i came up with, since the gravity and IBU of oaked arrogant bastard are "top secret".
4 lbs 8.4 oz Amber Dry Extract (12.5 SRM) Dry Extract 36.49 %
3 lbs 0.3 oz Extra Light Dry Extract (3.0 SRM) Dry Extract 24.33 %
2 lbs 9.7 oz Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM) Grain 21.03 %
2 lbs 4.0 oz Caramel/Crystal Malt - 80L (80.0 SRM) Grain 18.16 %
1.00 oz Galena [13.00 %] (60 min) Hops 19.8 IBU
2.00 oz Centennial [10.00 %] (30 min) Hops 23.4 IBU
1.00 oz Cascade [5.50 %] (30 min) Hops 6.4 IBU
1.00 oz Liberty [4.30 %] (10 min) Hops 2.4 IBU
0.25 tsp Irish Moss (Boil 10.0 min) Misc
3.00 oz Oak Chips (Secondary 14.0 days) Misc
Est Original Gravity: 1.092 SG
Bitterness: 51.9 IBU
Est Color: 21.9 SRM
i'm pretty set on this, and doubt i'm going to change it ... but suggestions are welcome.
