Looking to make a hoppy wheat. Big fan of wheat, getting to be a bigger fan of hops.
What I'm looking at:
Extract
5 gallons
Start with 3 gallons,
Steep for 30m
1lb Briess Flaked Wheat
1lb Belgian Pale
Malts
6.6 lbs Briess Bavarian Wheat LME
Hops
1oz Cluster @ 60m
1oz Liberty @ 15m
Top to 5 gallons
Pitch Danstar BRY-97
Dry hop with 1oz of cascade after primary.
-----
Accordfing to brewmaster's warehouse, that leaves me with an OG around 1.060, FG of 1.015, and an IBU around 27, and an ABV of 5.9.
That being said, wondering if I should drop some of the wheat for a bit of Pilsen or Golden Light to help the pale side of the flavors, or if those hops and the steeping of the wheat and pale should be enough. maybe add another poudn of the pale to the steeping?
First beer not from a kit, so I'm just taking a shot in the dark on this one.
