Water heater burner???

I am thinking of building a brew stand and was wondering if anyone has ever used a natural gas water heater burner for their HLT or mash tun. If so how did it work. I am trying to keep the cost down and figured that this might be a good cost cutter.

Do a search for NG burners and you should find a lot of information.

I think if you are going to use natural gas it will work fine. Converting it to propane will probably not work - gas orifices for propane are much smaller - hard to make a hole smaller!
