I am trying to come up with a nice copper-ish ale for this spring/summer. I looked Redhook's Copperale and Boulder Beer's Singletrack for some ideas.

Here is what I came up with:

Style: American Pale Ale
TYPE: All Grain
Taste: (35.0)

Recipe Specifications
--------------------------
Batch Size: 5.00 gal
Boil Size: 5.72 gal
Estimated OG: 1.053 SG
Estimated Color: 11.4 SRM
Estimated IBU: 24.2 IBU
Brewhouse Efficiency: 70.00 %
Boil Time: 60 Minutes

Ingredients:
------------
Amount Item Type % or IBU
7.00 lb Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM) Grain 66.67 %
2.00 lb Caramel/Crystal Malt - 40L (40.0 SRM) Grain 19.05 %
1.50 lb Rye, Flaked (2.0 SRM) Grain 14.29 %
1.00 oz Tettnang [4.50 %] (55 min) Hops 15.7 IBU
0.50 oz Tettnang [4.50 %] (30 min) Hops 6.2 IBU
0.25 oz Nugget [13.00 %] (5 min) Hops 2.3 IBU

I have not really decided on mash schedule and yeast yet, but I thought about Wyeast American Ale II, Wyeast Northwest Ale (#1332) or maybe even Wyeast Cali Lager. Mash will most likely be at 152 for 60min w/ single infusion.

Let me know what you think.

I have never had the Boulder Beer's Singletrack but I am planning on brewing a copperhook clone soon and feel like I got a good shot at cloning it. Between their website and emailing them I came up with the following and seen in this thread https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f12/no-love-copper-ales-19930/index3.html

Batch Size: 5.50 gal
Boil Size: 7.12 gal
Estimated OG: 1.054 SG
Estimated Color: 11.5 SRM
Estimated IBU: 20.3 IBU

Boil Time: 75 Minutes

Ingredients:
------------
Amount Item Type % or IBU
8.50 lb Great Western American Pale (3.0 SRM) Grain 88.82 %
0.68 lb Caramel/Crystal Malt -120L (120.0 SRM) Grain 7.11 %
0.39 lb Cara-Pils/Dextrine (2.0 SRM) Grain 4.08 %
1.00 oz Williamette [5.50 %] (60 min) Hops 17.9 IBU
0.50 oz Saaz [4.00 %] (10 min) Hops 2.4 IBU
1 Pkgs Northwest Ale (White Labs #WLP041) [StartYeast-Ale

Mash Schedule: My Mash
Total Grain Weight: 9.57 lb

Completely forgot about this...until just now ;) I def agree with the Western Am. Pale, but I am not sure if I want to go with it since I would have to order it somewhere online. I think I will give it a shot this weekend. How were your results?

Try some victory (.5#) in there. It gives a nice little malty flavor that backs the copper color up.

How'd this turn out? I am trying to come up with a clone for boulder beer's singletrack and wanted to see how yours was.

Here is my recipe for my Copper Ale. I have brewed this several times and it is always received quite well and never seems to last long:) Let me know if you try it and what you think!

If it were my brew I would scale back a little on the crystal a little and throw in some munich. I really like the flavor munich adds in and it would help achieve the color you are looking for. Cheers and let us know how it turns out.
