Hello,

I am looking to make a redish colored pale ale.... Kind of a hoppy red ale. My local shop had a recipee with the following grain bill...

6 lbs light LME
8oz brown sugar
8 oz caramel 60 (steep 30 min @ 150).

1oz Amarillo 60 min
1oz Amarillo 15 min
.5oz Amarillo 5 min
Dry .5oz Amarillo

Saale us05

Will this beer get a redish color to it?? Any suggestions?? It looks pretty tasty I me....

U could always use an amber dme. And I would up the crystal to 1 lb. steep it until the color looks good to u

Well u could actually keep the light dme. But still up the grain. U should get a nice color out of it as we'll as some nice flavor. It will look brown until it clears

This was made only using crystal 10

6lb gold LME
8oz Crystal 10L

Will give you an amber colored ale. Just add your hop schedule to that.

I would move your 15m to 1m and up the 5m and dry to 1oz.

1oz Amarillo 60 min
1oz Amarillo 10 min
1oz Amarillo 5 min
Dry 1oz Amarillo

Edit: To be honest I would probably use something else to bitter and shift all the Amarillo back further in the beer. Love those Amarillo hops.

Search the net for Jamils Evil Twin...one of my favorite brews, a red hoppy beer.
