This is my first recipe post. I kind of threw this recipe together randomly, as it was originally designed as a starter for a barleywine. At the end I realized that I had made a stout with pretty much all UK ingredients except the yeast. It turned out really well so on a whim I entered it in a competition under 13E - American Stout and ended up taking gold in stouts for it. It's a very smooth stout with loads of roasty flavor. It's almost an Imperial Stout, but a lot more drinkable. Considering it was my first solo All-Grain batch I'm really happy with how it turned out, and I'll definitely be making it again.

Carbonation levels on this beer were perfect for me at 2.5 volumes. It ended up being right around 7.5% ABV

How long did you ferment it?

Also, I figure you kegged it, right? Were the fuggles kind-of lost in the mix, or were they prominent?

3 weeks in primary with no secondary. I bottled this batch as I hadn't gotten my kegging system yet. There wasn't much if any hop quality apparent in the aroma over the roast/coffee of the malt, but it did provide balance to the malt flavors. I think the fuggles specifically enhanced the earthy flavors that you sometimes get in a dark chocolate or coffee. I also just like fuggles and use it in at least 50% of my recipes.
