Black Pug Coconut Porter

Batch Size = 6.0 Gallons
Estimated SG = 1.056
Bitterness = 28.2 IBUs
Color = 31.9 SRM
ABV = 5.9% (Estimated)
Efficiency = 90%

Bitterness ratio = 0.503


Ingredients:

Gypsum water adjustment
8 lbs Marris Otter
1 lb Caramel/Cyrstal 40L
8 oz Chocolate Malt
8 oz Roasted Barley
4 oz Black Patent

Mash at 150 degrees - 90 minutes

0.5 oz Northern Brewer - 60min boil
0.5 oz Kent Goldings - 60 min
0.5 oz Kent Goldings - 30 min
Whirfloc - 15minutes
0.5 oz Kent Goldings - 5 min

White Labs WLP007 Dry English Ale (1.5L starter made with stirplate)

Add 24 ounces of toasted coconut to the secondary for a week!

Holy chunky yeast! WLP007 English Dry Ale yeast flocculates like a MO-FO. It's was getting almost chunky looking in the flask/stirplate.

At first I thought something was wrong, but researched and found out that this is pretty normal!
 
Looks good! Give WLP007 a try sometime. It's also very flocculant and has done great things for me in the past. Cheers!

Whoops! That's what I meant.... WLP028 is Scottish Ale...

I did use WLP007....
