It usually takes more of your time to brew beer, but beer is usually ready to drink with less aging than wine. Notice your bottles of wine in the store are usually labeled with years 1-2 years ago. Currently most wines I see are 2005-2006, that means they harvested the grapes and started the fermentation 18-30 months ago.
