I have a northern brewers wheat kit and was thinking I have some chocolate malt 1 lb. How much? Don't do? Do? Would it mess with flavor in a negative way? Before I add or don't, im curious what others might think.

Chocolate malt in a wheat beer? Sounds...interesting. I wouldn't do it but then again home brewing is about experimenting and trying new things.

American Wheat or Weizen? A small amount of chocolate malt, should give you a nice dunkelweizen. Chocolate goes well with banana. Be careful because it can easily overpower the beer.

I would crush 4 oz, if its a 5 gallon recipe, steep it for 20 min at 150f. It might be good I am always thinking of things to make. lately I have been wanting my beer to taste like breakfast cereal. more specifically sugar coated puffed wheat. No idea how but like this idea,it all starts as a thought. Put action behind it. worse case is, it isnt very good, however I doubt yours will turn out terrible.

4oz steeped in a cup of water? Or less?

More water is better. I would just do it the way extract with specialty grain kits do it: Put the crushed grain in a grain bag or cheese-cloth, tie the bag closed, heat your brew pot water to 160 F and steep for 30 min, then turn the heat up, add your extract and hops according to recipe.
