What beer/homebrew blogs/magazines do you read?

I mostly just stick to forums here on HBT and Reddit, but I'll occasionally browse Brulosophy if theres a topic that i find interesting.

4th NE IPA with 1318 - why am I getting sulfur this time??

Is the yeast from one of the originial mason jars? I've had issues with using washed yeast more than 2-3 times and find its better to use a fresh batch after a couple of fermentations.

    Refresh BrewTarget

Thanks for sharing. I use BrewTarget and may want to look at updating my version. It always prompts about updating the ingredients list. For a free program, it works great and I've got it dialed in with my setup.

    American Amber Ale Amber On

Since I've already got the grain bill milled when I picked it up, I'm locked into that. My system gets about 73% efficiency which puts me at a OG of 1.063 so I ended up adjusting the hops up to 38 IBU. I'm going to stick with the WLP-036 yeast since I already bought it, but I do plan to mash...

    American Amber Ale Amber On

Any feedback on how this one turned out? I was searching for a random amber in a hurry and sent this grain bill over to get milled at my LHBS. I got home and am dropping it in my software (Brewtarget) and nothing is lining up. It has a preboil gravity where the OG is supposed to be. I'm...

    Homebrewers Toolkit Review

Thanks for the review. I know most people use BeerSmith but I haven't made the jump. Been using Brewtarget which I originally found for Ubuntu, but there is a Windows version as well. Meets my needs and can't beat free.

    15-gallon brew kettle advice

I'm similar to you in brewing mostly 5 gallon batches with the occasional 10 gallon batch. You should know that if you get a 20G kettle, that when brewing 5 gallon batches you're volume may not be enough to reach the thermometer which would be a bummer. I'm likely going to go the 15G...

    Bottling into growlers

You don't want to carbonate in growlers because they are not designed to hold the pressure required to force CO2 into the beer the same way beer bottles are. Also, for presentation purposes, you'd be better off not having sediment at the bottom of the serving container from bottle conditioning...

    Measuring Fermentation Temperatures

I used the Mini-Thermocouple from Thermoworks with a couple different probes. I like the fast read times and variety of probes for different applications. I have a metal probe that I use when measuring the mash in temp and pitching temps, then the same wire probe to measure temp throughout...

    Newbie from New Bern, NC

Welcome to the forum! My wife wasn't interested in my CJ so I ended up selling it. Still not interested in brewing, but it keeps me around the house!

Dry Hop, Carb, and Chill in a Keg

I dry hop in a keg in the fridge while it carbs up and it works great. Sure, dry hopping may be more efficient and come through more at room temps than cooler, however, it still is effective at cold temps. I'd rather have a properly carbonated beer with a lighter dry hop than a better aromatic...
