    Any Grainfather users? HELP!

It's not a rapid process unfortunately you may find you'll need to insulate the unit. As long as you see the temp increase and you should be able to hear the heating element working, it'll get there. It usually takes me 20 mins or more to hit boil and that's after getting the GrainCoat.

    Any Grainfather users? HELP!

It's ok if a little bit of grain goes through, it'll happen. I see more and more people on YouTube and websites use things like sink strainers help prevent this. The idea being you flip it over so it acts as a lid over the overflow attachment.

One more thing to note on their update is that the boil off rate was 7.24%. I believe you want something around 8%. I think that's pretty good for 1600 W.

Thanks for the info TallDan. That actually makes me feel even better about my Grainfather.

    Grainfather Kickstarter

The transformer I had in mind was this one. From what I've read that should be more than enough and last for at least a few years. But, after doing some more research on my end, I've decided that this price is too good to pass up considering my own plans of an electric setup had costs that...

    Grainfather Kickstarter

I'm really interested in scrapping my own plans for an electric setup for something like this or the Braumeister with what I've been reading. For such a price-point my only hesitation remains with some of the comments earlier - 1600W can boil 7-8 gallons? (at least enough?) Are there options...

    Speidel Braumeister (brewmaster)

Thanks for the reply, TheDecline. Looking at this makes me a bit more weary; my laundry is in the basement (I am on 2nd floor), and aside from the stove, which is gas, I don't see any need for my unit to have the kind of wiring necessary to handle something like this. As someone who is...

American Pale Ale Bee Cave Brewery Haus Pale Ale

Brewed this about 2 months ago; keg is now nearly empty. Great recipe template that lends itself easily to tinkering. Used crystal 40 in this one; next one I will use completely different hops; some Amarillo would go nicely with the Vienna malt, I think. Thanks Ed.

Thanks for that insights, Soviet. I have been looking into this system recently and have been more than intrigued by it and am in fact considering to save some bucks to acquire it by the end of this year. I have gone through the beginnings of this tread when FiveKaie and Yambor discussed their...

American Pale Ale Bee Cave Brewery Haus Pale Ale

I brewed this on Sunday but instead of using 0.5# of Crystal 10, I used 1# of Crystal 40 (wanted to use grains I already had on hand). Still bubbling away every few seconds at ~69 degrees. Cannot wait to try this.

First time kegging today with one problem

Yeah an additional keg came to mind - not sure I'll do it just yet, considering how much I've already spent recently with the keg system itself, but that probably would be my best option if I decide to let this bother me that much (not to mention additional kegs will be needed anyway over time)...

First time kegging today with one problem

Finally started kegging beer today - two batches with my dual logic system. All went well except for one problem - I completely forgot to sanatize the beer line for the second keg... Don't know how I overlooked it, considering I did it with the first one. Live and learn, but now my...
